Tell Us Your Story
We invite you to be a part of a statewide campaign by sharing how the library has helped you, your family, your organization, or your community. The Mercer County Library System is participating in a storytelling campaign, which is sponsored by the New Jersey Library Association and the New Jersey State Library.
People from all over New Jersey are submitting stories as to how libraries have transformed their lives. Stories range from the library serving as a place for quality family time during difficult financial times to a woman passing the U.S. citizenship test with the help from English as a Second Language classes hosted at her local library.
Even I have a story; when I had my first child in 2007, I had been living in the Mercer County for only five months. In order to simply get out of the house and be around other adults, I started attending the Baby Story Time at my local MCL branch. I regularly attended the weekly program, and I began to mingle with more and more other moms. I learned of local mom’s groups, and I started to meet people and become part of the community. Additionally, I learned fabulous interactive techniques from the Youth Services Librarian, as well as developmentally appropriate books, songs, and games for my child. There are songs from story time that my son still loves to hear and to “sing along” with me.
So, what is YOUR story? How has the library helped you? Have items from our collection assisted you in achieving either a career or a personal goal? Has a program you attended made a significant impact on your day-to-day living?
Please feel free to complete and submit forms that are available at all MCL branches. Or you can simply submit a story using the online form.

Thank you for sharing your story, Anna! I also learned to appreciate the library more than ever as a parent. The increased responsibilities and the focus on spending more time with the children made me drastically reduce my regular visits to some favorite movie theatres in New York City where I liked watching independent and international films. I am so happy the library is offering such films on a DVD for free! So, I’m not feeling cut-off from one of my passions, and there are still so many movies to watch – no need to subscribe to Netflix at all! AT
