Miranda’s Beach Day by Holly Keller

Miranda and her mom spend a great day at the beach. Miranda finds a crab and builds a fantastic sand castle, but at the end of the day the crab returns to the ocean, the castle gets washed away by the tide and Miranda goes home with her mom. Everything returns to where it belongs.

The Seashore Book by Charlotte Zolotow
Published by HarperCollins, 1992

By the end of the story the boy declares, “I like the seashore a lot” although he has never actually been there. A testament to great storytelling!

To the Beach by Linda Ashman
Published by Harcourt, Inc., 2005An absent-minded family tries to take a trip to the beach, but they keep forgetting things and have to turn around and get them. When they finally have everything they need, it begins to storm so they turn around for the last time and go home. When the storm ends and the sun comes out they decide to have a beach day in their own backyard. This story is simply great fun!
