Halloween Costumes on a Budget
Halloween is fast approaching and the kids are going to need costumes. Purchasing a Halloween costume at a Halloween specialty store can be very expensive and in these tough economic times, we are all trying to find ways to save money. Here are a few tips on how to keep the cost down.

2. Shop Smart
You can purchase Halloween costumes and accessories and still save money. You just need to know where to look. Try the following:
• Thrift stores and consignment shops
• Yard/Garage Sales
• Flea Markets
• Discount chain stores (Just remember to shop early and pay attention to the sale flyer!)
And again be creative. A pair of scrubs can turn into a doctor or nurse’s uniform. A party dress can be a fairy or princess costume and so on…
3. Turn to Friends and Family
Hand-me-downs are a great way to recycle Halloween costumes without spending a dime! If you have friends and family members with children around the same ages as yours, you can organize a “costume swap.” Everyone brings their children’s costumes from years past and you trade. All the kids get new costumes (or at least ones that are new to them) and no one has to pay for anything!
If you have any more money saving tips or costume ideas you would like to share, leave a comment. Have a safe and happy Halloween!
