Spice up your document by adding a watermark!

A faint image that appears behind your text, such as a company name or logo, is a watermark which will add zest to your document. If you use text watermark, you can select from built-in phrases that do not require any additional formatting or you can type in your own text.

If you choose to use a picture, make sure to lighten it, or wash it out, so that it doesn't interfere with your document’s text. You can use pictures from ClipArt, photographs from your digital camera or a scanned picture that you have saved in your file.
To add a text watermark: Open Word. On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Background group, click Watermark. Choose Custom Watermark. Click Text watermark. Select the text you want to use or type in your own. Select any other formatting options you may want to use. Click OK and viola your document has a fancy diagonal or a simple horizontal watermark!
To add a picture as watermark: Open Word. On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Background group, click Watermark. Click Custom Watermark. Click Picture watermark, and then click Select Picture. Select the picture that you want, and then click Insert. Select a percentage under Scale to insert the picture at a particular size. Select the Washout check box to lighten the picture so that it doesn't interfere with text.

Note: You cannot insert a text and a picture watermark in the same page of your document.
The text or picture that you select as a watermark is applied to the entire document whether it is a one page document or a fifty page tome.
Make sure to print preview your document or click Print Layout view to see how the watermark appears on your page.

To change a watermark: Open the watermark dialog box. Click on the Page Layout tab, in the Page Background group, and then click Watermark. Then simply choose a different pre-designed text or type your own text and then click Apply. To choose a different picture, open the watermark dialog box, click Select Picture and choose a different picture.

To remove a watermark: On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Background group, click Watermark. Click Remove Watermark.
