Welcome Back to the Hollowbrook Branch

The Hollowbrook Branch of the Mercer County Library System—which is reopening on Monday, September 11—is located in the Hollowbrook Community Center on Hollowbrook Drive in Ewing. In March of 2016, the branch had to temporarily close while necessary renovations were done to the building. The Hollowbrook Community Center also houses CYO and Head Start preschools, a Meals on Wheels office, a computer learning center, the Mercer County Nutrition program for seniors, and a branch of the Ewing Pool System.

Several repairs and upgrades have been made to the building while it has been closed. Some of the renovations include:
  • Asbestos remediation throughout the building
  • A new roof
  • A new HVAC system and boiler
  • New windows
  • New LED lighting and emergency lights
  • New flooring
  • New interior and exterior doors
  • New ramp near the library and computer lab
  • New ADA-compliant bathroom on the first floor
    Library Space
When a library has to temporarily close, it takes a great deal of work and coordination between librarians, maintenance and Information Technology department staff. Books and other materials, furniture, computers and supplies need to be carefully packed up and safely stored. Just as much work is going into unpacking everything into our newly improved space!
Boxes, Boxes, Boxes!
The community center is not open to the public yet, but library staff have been working hard to set the library back up. Over 9,500 books, DVDs and other library materials are being returned to shelves to get ready for reopening. Staff are also looking forward to being able to offer programs to our patrons. Programs held at the branch in the past have included storytimes, movies, holiday events, educational speakers and crafts for both children and adults. Library hours are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (the library is closed from 12:00 Noon –1:00 p.m. for lunch).

Stop by to check out a book, come to a program, say hi to the staff and get to know this small but charming branch!
Hollowbrook is ready to open!

  1. Really going to miss seeing Alyssa at The Twin Rivers Branch. She was always so friendly. I had no idea she was only there temporarily.
