Attending Library Virtual Programs with GoToMeeting
Before the Program
You don't need to create an account. When you join a library program, you're joining as a guest. You'll simply need the link we provide in an email before the program.Choose how you want to join:Web browser: Only works in Chrome and Edge. Click on “Join in this browser”.
Desktop app: GoToMeeting will prompt you to click on “Download the app”.
Phone or tablet: Download the GoToMeeting app
from your device's app store.
Joining a Virtual Program from the Computer
Click the link in the email you receive from us.
If you are joining from a web browser, you may need to allow access to your audio devices by clicking “Allow while visiting the site”.
Select your audio option. Most people should
choose the options from the dropdowns that say
“Default” at the beginning for the
Microphone and Speakers.Click “Ok, I’m ready.”
Enter your name when prompted and click OK.
Asking Questions
Normally during our virtual programs, questions are held until the end, but feel free to chat with us during the event if you would like to pose a question to the presenter or if you need technical help.
To open the chat:
Look for the chat bubble icon at the top right of your screen.
Click it to open the chat panel on the right side.
Type your question and press Enter.
Common Issues and Quick Fixes
“The video isn’t smooth and the audio skips.” For best results, use a wired connection or stay close to your Wi-Fi router to improve your connection.
“I can't hear anything.” Click the gear icon at the top right of your screen next to the chat bubble and select “Audio” Make sure your computer’s default speakers or headphones are selected as the output device. You may also need to click the “Leave” button at the bottom and re-join.
“I got disconnected.” Use the same link to re-join, you don't need a new invitation.
