Annual Bookfest is September 26

Come one, come all to the second Mercer County Library System Book Festival! Held Saturday, September 26 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch, readers and authors of all ages will come together to celebrate books, stories, and creativity.  Enjoy lively programs, crafts and activities, family-friendly performances, and opportunities to talk with the authors behind the books. 

Featured programs include a panel discussion on writing and publishing with authors Mickey Flagg (paranormal fiction), Maria Imbalzano (romance and women’s fiction), Delia Pitts (crime fiction), and Tom Tracy (children’s books). Other guest speakers include young adult author Colby Cedar Smith; writer and New York Times editor Ken Jaworoski on Boxing as Craft: What Getting Punched in the Face Taught Ken Jaworowski about Writing; and Cartooning Lessons with illustrator Mike Dawson. Tim Hoh Music for Kids will hold two concerts to round out the event. You won’t want to miss it! 

More than forty-five authors from a variety of genres will host tables throughout the library. This is a great opportunity to meet and talk with writers and purchase their books! The Festival will also feature crafts and activities for all ages, making it a fun and enriching day for the whole family. Whether you’re an aspiring writer, a published author, an avid reader, or someone simply looking for an engaging community event, there will be something for you to enjoy at the Festival. 

Among the library staff, the Festival has become a big hit. Representatives from most of the branches and every department come together to work on the event over the whole year. When you visit, look for folks from your local branch—you’ll see some familiar faces!
