Diaper Drive begins November 2, 2026
Each year, The Mercer County Library System partners with The Maker’s Place to collect diapers for low-income families in Trenton, NJ. This year, the Diaper Drive will take place between Monday, November 2 and Monday, November 30.
Why diapers?A sufficient supply of clean diapers is essential for the health and well-being of babies and toddlers. Each day, babies require up to 12 diapers and toddlers require about 8. Without enough diapers, babies and toddlers risk infection and health problems.
How do diaper donations help?
A daily supply of diapers is often a requirement for babies and toddlers who participate in childcare programs. As a result, parents struggling with diaper need may have to miss work or school if they can’t leave their children at childcare. Diaper donations help families meet these requirements. With a sufficient supply of diapers, children don’t miss out on early childhood education and learning and parents don’t miss out on work and school.
A diaper gap exists for many families. Because federal and state programs providing free diapers are limited, families experiencing diaper shortage rely on local diaper banks like The Maker’s Place for support. Last year the library collected over 8,000 diapers for The Makers Place! We hope to surpass that number this year.
Items Needed:
Diapers – sizes 4 through 7 are especially helpful. Diapers range in size from Newborn to size 7, and pullups come in sizes T2-3, T3-4, and T4-5.
Diaper Donations can be dropped off at your local branch during the month of November. Teens looking for community service can join the MCLS Teen Advisory Board for our end-of-drive diaper bundling event on December 5 from 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm at the Hopewell Branch. At this event, teens will work together to package the collected diapers into bundles for families. Please register for this event at https://events.mcl.org/event/17827222
